Our Vision & Mission Statements
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to Term 3! A big thank you to Dorene Warwick and Jessica Warwick for their beautiful numeral artwork on the pathway outside the P-2 classroom and to Peter Porter for installing student protection safe privacy blinds where they are required. Your contribution in support of our students and staff is greatly appreciated.
Inspire Maths
Teachers and principals from St. Joseph's Tara and St. Maria Goretti Inglewood, proudly and collaboratively presented to colleagues in the diocese on the pupil free day last Monday. It was a joyful celebration of the many pedagogies and practices that our schools have successfully embedded to inspire our students' learning in mathematics. Congratulations team on your wonderful achievement! Special thanks go to our Inspire Maths Education Officer, Kerri Shooter, for supporting our team.
Catholic Education Week
Year 6 leaders will travel to Toowoomba on Tuesday 26th July to participate in the launch of Catholic Education Week (CEW). Wednesday 27th July is a pupil free day for students while staff travel to Roma to take part in the Bishop's Inservice Day that includes Mass, professional spiritual development and connecting with other Catholic School personnel.
Health
Two staff have covid this week and quite a few of the students have other illnesses. Airconditioners have been cleaned, daily disinfecting and cleaning continues to occur, sanitising, social distancing and covering coughs continues to be in place and masks are recommended.
Please notify the school if your child is away sick.
Counsellor Support
Counsellor Susan Rodd has organised Resilience sessions for all students and teachers to further support your child's wellbeing and learning in week 4 of this term.
Athletics
Congratulations to all students on the sportsmanship and effort demonstrated on the St. Joseph's Athletics Carnival. This year the winning team was MacKillop!
A reminder to return notes and money for the Small Schools Athletics Carnival at Meandarra this Friday 22 July. The bus departs school at 6.45 a.m. Mr Smith will be in charge as I have a specialist appointment that day. I wish everyone the very best. It will be a great carnival.
Book Week Parade
A lot of excitement is building in readiness for the Community Book Week Parade on Friday 29 July. Students have been talking about their wonderful Japanese costumes.
Retreats
Education Officer, Lisa Cavanagh, visited our school to provide a prayer retreat to staff and parishioners last week. The next day, teachers from Quilpie, Inglewood, Mitchell and Tara collaboratively planned quality Religion units via Teams from St. Joseph's Tara.
Sister of St. Joseph's, Sr. Di Phillips, will visit our school on the 3rd and 4th August, to celebrate the feast day of Saint Mary MacKillop, Australia's first saint and our founder and to provide a charism retreat for staff and students. Mary MacKillop is an important part of our Catholic story. She did ordinary things that we can all do (caring for others) extraordinarily well.
Please maintain healthy habits at home and at school to minimise illness as best we can.

From the APRE
CATHOLIC EDUCATION WEEK (CEW)
In 2022 during CEW, we intend to increase knowledge of our Catholic school as a community of faith, hope and love continuing Christ’s mission and ministry in the world. We intend to do this by providing opportunities for students to reflect on how they can contribute to building an authentic Catholic school community today and into the future.
We listen
First reading: Matthew (22:34-40)
Matthew 22:34-40 Greatest Commandment
Reader: The Pharisees got together and planned another way to try to trick Jesus.
Chorus: Uh-oh!
Reader: They tried to catch him out again!
Chorus: Oh no!
Reader: What do you reckon Jesus? What is the most important commandment?
Chorus: What is it Jesus?
Jesus: Easy! There are two commandments that go together.
Chorus: Two commandments?
Jesus: You must love God with all your heart…
Chorus: Love God.
Jesus: You must love God with all your soul…
Chorus: Love God.
Jesus: You must love God with all your mind!
Chorus: Love God.
Jesus: And the other command is this: Love others…
Chorus: Love others.
Jesus: Just as much as you love yourself.
Chorus: Love God and love others!

We respond
• Matthew wrote his Gospel for the early Christian community.
• The themes of Faith, Hope and Love were part of the mission and ministry of Jesus. Jesus
explained that ‘The Greatest Commandment – love of God and love of neighbour’, was the
most important part of The Law for both the Jewish and Christian communities.
With your group talk about what this means for you
# I wonder how I can live this commandment from Jesus?
# I wonder what a community of faith, hope and love looks like/feels like/sound like?
# I wonder how I can promote a community of faith, hope and love?
We go forth
Closing prayer
God of Love,
We thank you for the gift of Faith, may it grow in us each day.
Help us to use your gifts of Hope and Love so that we may serve others in your name.
We ask this through Jesus, your Son.
Amen

Fr Jacks Message
To be a Christian we have to have faith (or belief) in our God Jesus Christ. Our journey in life is a faith story in Jesus for who he is.
Because of the faith we have to have a love for Jesus as he loved us first and shown and given us the truth about what life is. We must love one another as everone is important.
The song says "Love it was that made us and it was love that saved us, Love was God's plan when he made mankind, God's divine nature is love. Born of God's love we must love him that's why he made us to love him. But only when we love all people can we partake of God's love."
A Lawyer asked Jesus, "Which is the greatest Commandment of the Law?" Jesus said "We must love the Lord our God with all out heart and love our neighbour as ourself. So, are you a Christian?
Shalom
