St Joseph's, Tara - Term 4 Week 4 2022 Newsletter!
Our Vision & Mission Statements
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
Mr Paul Murphy, our school's senior education leader, visited our beautiful school last week and enjoyed time with happy engaged student and adult learners.
Mr Murphy was very excited to hear that we had ten new students attend the first Transition Day for Term 4!
With student numbers increasing, we discussed the possibility of a third classroom Teacher, Music and LOTE in 2023! Watch this space for further updates!
School Renewal and Improvement (SRI)
The St. Joseph's Tara School Renewal and Improvement Process will take place in term 1, week 2, 2023. With our focus on student success and wellbeing, it is amazing how far we have come in the last four years and it will be exciting to map out and plan to sustain and continue to grow and develop over the next four years. Together let's make St. Joseph's School Tara even better.
World Teacher's Day
This week is a time to celebrate and thank our amazing St. Joseph's Teachers! Every one of our Teachers has expert teaching skills that they have honed through dedication, research and quality practice. Every Teacher at St. Joseph's School knows and cares about your child's likes, dislikes, learning strengths and areas for growth. They know how your child learns best and what makes them proud, collaborative, resilient and strong.
Please take time this week to show your appreciation for your child's Teacher/s.
Personally I thank our Teachers for being wonderful, inclusive human beings who do all they can so that all students feel valued and supported to reach their potential one step at a time.
Fee Concession
Families doing it tough received a wonderful fee concession last week. I encourage these families to now review their fees and schedule regular payments so that their 2022 fees are met. Our finance officers, Miss Monica or Mrs Whelan, can help you with this.
If you are a low-income earner in 2023, please remember to apply for a fee concession in term 1. It is quite easy to do and worth the time it takes to apply.
Day for Daniel
The St. Joseph's community will wear RED on Day for Daniel, Friday 28th October. Day for Daniel is Australia’s largest child safety education and awareness day. The day is an initiative of the Daniel Morcombe Foundation, established in 2005 by Denise and Bruce, following the tragic abduction of their 13 year old son Daniel in December 2003.
In class students will participate in the mandatory Daniel Morcombe program activities to encourage students to Recognise, React, and Report if they ever feel unsafe.
Term 4 Transition Days
The first term four transition day was a big success. We invite 2023 students to dress up in Wizard of Oz costumes and join in the learning fun on Thursday 3rd November from 8.30-12.30 pm.
BOOK FAIR will be available on the day so you will be able to get perfect gifts for Christmas.
The final transition day for the year takes place on
- Friday 18th November from 8.30-2.50 pm.
2023-2024 Interviews & Enrolments
If you have not already done so, please contact the office to arrange your child's 2023 enrolment interview this week.
Leadership Forum
In Week 6, I will attend the Leadership Forum in Toowoomba with other Catholic School Principals. On the Monday I will be mentoring a Principal new to the diocese. The theme of the Forum is Staying on Mission. This will be very important going into our SRI. Sustaining the wonderful student success in Reading and Maths is essential as is student and staff wellbeing in order to flourish as people, learners and an engaged community.

Safe Tea Event Invitation
Staff and parents are invited to join us at morning tea (1o.45 am) on Monday 31 October to talk about safety and how to contribute to making St. Joseph's an even safer environment.
From the APRE
Miss Fisher, Mrs Warwick and P-2 shared a meaningful Family Liturgy of the word with us last Wednesday. The love and gratitude that the students had for their families was clear to see. The students were able to see that God's love for them is like their love for their families. Our hearts were overflowing with love.
Thank you to Mrs Smith and Mrs Porter for their Mission activities. Check out the remaining events for Mission Week below.
All are welcome to share in a MISSION Liturgy of the Word on Friday at 2.15 pm.
There will be an All Saints and All Souls Day prayer as part of the assembly next week.
Learning at St Joseph's
P-2 is back in full swing this term! We have had lots of wonderful things happening already!
P-2 did an incredible job presenting our Families Liturgy last week, I was amazed by the readers and the connections each student made to why they are grateful for their families.
We also have our Mission Activity happening tomorrow which I know the students are super excited about, so don’t forget to bring your togs and a towel to have some fun at “Water Play”.
Homework has also been going home each week, I appreciate the students that have been bringing it back each week completed with their Home Readers, please remember it is due every Wednesday. I am looking forward to seeing more growth from each of the P-2 students this term, we definitely have super learners in our classroom!
