Our Vision & Mission Statements
From the Acting Principal
It has certainly been wonderful to see all this rain. Congratulations to all the students (and staff) who entered artwork, writing and other creative items into the Tara Show. Even though it was wet and muddy, it was wonderful that the students are able to display their talents in the pavilions for the community.

Parent Perception Survey
The Queensland Catholic Education Commission (QCEC) is conducting an important survey with parents and carers about the Catholic education system in Queensland. QCEC would appreciate your feedback via a short online survey to gain a better understanding of the factors that influence families in choosing a Catholic school. QCEC are working with Market & Communications Research and the Online Research Unit to compile feedback. You can complete the survey online by clicking on the link below. All responses are anonymous. The survey will be open for two weeks, closing COB Monday 20 March 2023. We therefore encourage participation at the earliest convenience.
Thank you for your contribution.
Healthy Food and Litterless lunches
Please send only healthly unprocessed and unpackaged food for snacks and lunches. e.g. banana in it's own skin, carrot sticks, cheese, salad, sandwiches etc in a named container. No processed junk food please. Healthy in means healthy out i.e. healthy emotions, healthy brains, healthy bodies and healthy friendships.
St Joseph's Feast Day
We will be celebrating this special event on Monday at 1.45pm in the School hall. The afternoon will include a small liturgy, the presentation of senior shirts to our Year 6 leaders, our weekly assembly for students of the week and then a cake for afternoon tea. Parents and carers are encouraged to attend.
Blessings on you and your family.

"Be calm and full of hope." Mary MacKillop (1871)
"Jesus calms the storm." Matthew 8:23
From the APRE
Next Monday we will celebrate the feast of St Joseph, who was the husband of Mary and father to Jesus. Joseph was a good man who tried to live a good life. Even when God asked him to do things he didn’t understand, Joseph never lost his faith and trust in God. Joseph can be a model for us today by showing us how to listen to what God asks of us with trust. Joseph is our school’s patron saint and St Mary MacKillop followed in Joseph’s footsteps as she too trusted in God and never lost faith when things got a little tough. Mary MacKillop used Joseph's values when forming her order of sisters called the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart.
Learning at St Joeys
This term in Prep, we have learnt important things such as learning to share, following directions, being good listeners, co operating with our class mates, taking turns and of course using our best manners.
We have learnt to be responsible for our things as well as our actions.
We have also learnt other things such as, to recognize our letters, sounds and numbers and even used technology to help us add two numbers together.
We all love our class mates and enjoy coming to school.
Mr Smith and Mrs Fraser tell us we are the best, and that we have the best attendance at school of all the classes and we always have the tidiest classroom.
We are looking forward to joining our Mums and Dads at next week's chats with Mr Smith, we are sure he will have lots of great things to share with our parents.
Oh, and of course, we had fun singing our song at assembly this week.
Prep students;
Adrian, Ben, Cash, Charlotte, Craig, Dominic, Eleanore, Frankie, Hannah, Renee, Xander.

P & F News
Our P&F team are working on some upcoming fundraisers! If you have any ideas, please contact the office and your brilliant ideas will be passed on! We would love to hear them!
We are doing tuckshop again, but we will be running it a bit differently until we get some more volunteers to help lessen the load. We will have either one or two main menu choices to choose from. This will make it easier to handle organizing all the orders. If we don’t get more volunteers to help in the tuckshop, we will have to run the tuckshop like this for the whole year.

Wellbeing Matters
Our well-being and the well-being of others is so very important in the current social climate. Life is often hectic with responsibilities and deadlines and the general pressures of providing for a family. Each fortnight, I will be providing resources and links for well-being programs you can try and use with your family. This fortnight is the WOW - Six Week Challenge.
The Wheel of Wellbeing Six-Week Challenge is a free online course designed to boost your wellbeing. All it takes is some simple actions, done every day to get some positive results. The Wheel of Wellbeing – or WOW for short -is based on six universal building blocks that contribute to health and happiness. It is a simple approach to promoting positive mental health and wellbeing that anyone can do.

Student Safety
EVERY CHILD HAS THE RIGHT TO FEEL SAFE
It is a legislative requirement that all non-state schools have at least two nominated staff members to whom a student can report the behaviour of another staff member that the student considers inappropriate. We call these specially trained staff members School Student Protection Contacts, or SSPCs. Each SSPC has been nominated by the principal in recognition of their integrity, approachability and knowledge in the area of student protection. Whilst students are encouraged to speak up to any trusted adult in the school community, it is important that they know they can access these specific staff members at any time should they have worries, queries or concerns. You will have noticed posters throughout the school depicting our current SSPCs. The SSPCs are also published on our school website along with information about our student protection processes. In everything we do at St Joseph's Tara student safety is our highest priority, therefore the SSPCs at our school are key personnel in our overall safeguarding processes. Please see the poster below depicting our current SSPC team.
