Founded by the Sisters of St Joseph in 1965, St Joseph's School, Tara is a co-educational Catholic primary school providing a high-quality education for students from Prep to Year 6.

As soon as you walk through the gates of our school, you will feel a warm sense of welcome and inclusion, and that’s because we are all part of the St Joseph's school family, where everyone has a place and feels like they belong.

Our aim is to provide a safe and happy learning environment where students, parents and staff collaborate to encourage personal growth and develop a love of learning in every child.

The school has professional and dedicated staff who are committed to excellence in educational standards and behaviour, delivering the Australian Curriculum in an exciting and innovative way.

We believe that every child has unique gifts and talents to be nurtured and developed and that every child has the right to learn the way they learn best.

It is a collective goal for our teaching team to ensure all students develop as a whole person including spiritually, emotionally, physically, socially and academically.

Small multi-age classes provide an educational advantage for students. Students receive more focused learning time with teachers, school officers and learning support teachers so all students can succeed.

“Teachers are so hard-working - they live for the students. You can see it from the moment the children step into the school grounds and it extends into the weekend. It’s like a big family. You feel like part of the family as soon as you walk in the door.”  St Joseph’s School Officer

Our learning facilities and resources help to equip your child for life in an ever-changing world. We focus on providing students with the necessary skills to become lifelong learners and leaders of our society.

A common feature of our Catholic school identity is our emphasis on community. We invite students, families, teachers and the broader community to work in partnership with us so that each child may reach their full potential.

Our Parent Partnership Forum and Parents and Friends group is actively involved in supporting the vision of the school and is very much a part of the success of our faith learning community.

We believe that each day of student leadership and learning prepares the students to continue their success in high school.

Founded on the motto of Faith – Friendship – Honour, we continue the tradition of those who came before us and are committed to providing quality learning in a caring and supportive environment for students in this rural setting.
